A bike for Mr D

What Mr D asks riders for, how to sign up, and how to get a bike that’s ready for deliveries.

What Mr D asks for

From Mr D’s “Become a driver” page, checked 25 October 2026:

  • ID: a South African ID, or a work permit for foreign nationals.
  • Licence: a valid South African driver’s licence.
  • Background check: a clear criminal background check.
  • Phone: an Android smartphone, version 6 or higher.

Mr D’s page doesn’t list what the bike needs (licence disc, top box, insurance). Ask the branch when they contact you.

How to sign up: Fill in the application form on Mr D’s “Become a driver” page (on the Mr D website, under About). Mr D connects you with your closest branch.

Requirements change. Check the app’s own page before you apply.

A bike that’s ready

The Big Boy Velocity 150 Delivery Package comes licensed and registered, with a large top box on a reinforced bracket, a crash bar, a phone holder with a USB charger and a full-face helmet.

  • R740 a week for 18 months, then it’s yours (with the optional maintenance plan and insurance)
  • No deposit: you pay the first week up front
  • Ride for Mr D and any other app
