What Uber Eats asks for
From Uber’s South African delivery page, checked 25 October 2026:
- Age: 18 or older.
- Licence: a motorcycle licence (Code A or A1), a learner’s licence (Code 1), a temporary licence, or an International Driving Permit. It must allow you to ride the bike you register.
- ID: an SA ID or passport, a foreign passport with a permit, an asylum seeker or refugee permit, or a refugee ID. Originals, clear, all four corners.
- Background check: through Uber’s screening supplier. A police clearance certificate isn’t accepted.
- Licence disc: a photo of the bike’s original licence disc (or MVL1), with the registration number matching your profile.
- Top box: 68 x 53 x 42 cm, closes, secured to the bike, fits a large pizza box and the Uber Eats bag.
- Delivery bag: an insulated Uber Eats bag, bought through the link Uber sends once your documents are approved. Don’t buy one before that.
How to sign up: Sign up at drivers.uber.com. Uber says activation depends on demand in your area, so approval isn’t guaranteed.
Requirements change. Check the app’s own page before you apply.
