Rent-to-own motorbike: how it works

Rent-to-own means you ride a brand-new bike from day one, pay for it weekly, and own it after the last payment. Here’s how ours works, what every rand is for, and how it compares with renting.

How it works

  1. Apply online. Your name and WhatsApp number, on your phone. It takes a minute.
  2. ID and licence first. Photos of your ID and the back of your licence card, and a selfie. We check them with Home Affairs, usually the same day.
  3. Then the rest. Upload your bank details, proof of address and 3 months of statements.
  4. Checks and a written quote. We check that the payments fit your income. Your quote stays the same for 5 business days.
  5. Sign and ride. We go through the agreement line by line, check the bike with you, and you ride away.
  6. Pay weekly. A debit order on the same day every week. Can't pay one week? WhatsApp us that day.
  7. It's yours. After your last payment we put the bike in your name.

No deposit

Many rent-to-own and rental deals ask for R1,000 to R1,500 before you get the bike. We don’t. You pay the first week up front, and that’s it.

Renting or rent-to-own?

Renting a delivery bike usually costs R550 to R750 a week, and the bike is never yours: after two years you’ve paid R57,000 to R78,000 and own nothing. With rent-to-own, the weekly money pays off a new bike you keep.

If things change

  • Pay off early at any time, with no penalty.
  • Behind on payments? WhatsApp us the same day. The law sets out the notices we must send, and we never take a bike without following it.
  • Can’t carry on? Hand the bike back in good condition and walk away.

Questions

Is there a deposit?

No. You pay the first week up front, before you ride away, and nothing else.

Is rent-to-own a loan?

It's a credit agreement under the National Credit Act: you get the bike now and pay for it over time. So we check that the payments fit your income, and you get a written quote with every cost before you sign.

What happens if I can't finish paying?

Hand the bike back in good condition (normal wear is fine) and walk away. We won't ask you for the rest. Talk to us first: we may be able to agree a plan so you can keep it.

Can I pay it off early?

Yes, at any time, with no penalty. You pay only what's still owed on that day.
